THAIKHUN is an exciting new casual dining experience from the owners of Chaophraya Thai Restaurant group. The interior is authentic, offering an interactive dining experience with open kitchens and traditionally rustic surroundings.

So, what does the name actually mean ... the Thai word ‘Khun’, means ‘your’, when you dine, you feel welcome, part of our home as you would in Thailand. THAIKHUN is YOUR Thailand – a place to remind you of amazing personal journeys or to ignite the dream of exploring a new destination. One thing for sure, great tasting Thai food is at the heart of this experience.  It's the place to excite and educate your taste buds; experience real, Thai eating as you would on the streets of Bangkok.

Pronounced ‘tycoon’, the name celebrates the street food sellers in Thailand who are real tycoons – owning and running their own successful food businesses and leading the way in Thai street food.  For us it's all about 'Food from the Heart, joint Owner/Chef Director Kim Kaewkraikhot was a Chef who ran her own small restaurant in Bangkok. Kim’s food was renowned in the local neighbourhood for its fantastic flavours.

Our vision and passion is to bring authentic Thai street food from the streets of Bangkok to the streets of the UK!  The first Thaikhun opened on 26th May at Spinningfields, Manchester.  The second site, Scotland's first, opened in Union Square Shopping Centre, Aberdeen on Monday 14th July.

Thaikhun is coming to a street near you, stay tuned to find out where...

Spinningfields Launch

Our first ever THAIKHUN opened in Spinningfields on Monday 26th May, winning the hearts and minds of the people of Manchester.  It really is true when we say our interior is 'authentic' and 'true to our Thai roots' - Kim (Owner/Chef Director) trawled the markets and her family's own home in Thailand to create the perfect look and feel. Most of the interior decorations and 'bric-a-brac' was chosen by Martin and Kim (joint owners) and shipped over to the UK.

Kim said: "I've even got my mother's omelette pan - I saw it in her kitchen and thought yes, this would look great, although she was a little bit surprised that I wanted it.  Look out for the trio of hats hanging in our bar area - one of these was actually my Mum's hat..."

Michael Ingall, Chief Executive of Allied London, said; "Our vision to introduce an exciting mix of high quality, independent eateries on to The Avenue is being realised with the arrival of Thaikhun. Spinningfields is the go-to destination in Manchester for both restaurants and bars and we're keen to continue to enhance our offering - the introduction of Thaikhun is giving the estate something new and different and complements our existing offering."

Kim Kaewkraikhot, joint owner of THAIKHUN, said: "My passion is to bring authentic Thai dishes from the streets of Bangkok to the streets of the UK.  Pronounced 'tycoon' the name celebrates the street food sellers who are real foodie entrepreneurs. I am really looking forward to sharing more signature dishes transported all the way from my cooking roots in Thailand."

This policy explains how cookies and other tracking devices are used on our websites at www.thaileisuregroup.co.uk, www.chaophraya.co.uk and www.thaikhun.co.uk.

About cookies and how we use them

Cookies are small data files placed on your computer or other device when you visit our websites.  The cookies are used to gather information about use of our sites or in some cases, to recognise an existing user when returning.  They are commonly used to help websites work efficiently and in a way that you would expect so that you have a good experience when you visit one of our sites.  They also help us to improve our websites and make our promotional activity more efficient.

Some cookies are session cookies which means that the cookie will expire when your session finishes.  Others are permanent cookies which are stored on your device and will be used to recognise you as a user, the next time you visit.  [We currently only use session cookies.]

Generally, cookies can be categorised as:

Strictly necessary cookies: cookies needed for a website to operate properly.

Analytical/performance cookies: cookies which allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around a website.

Functionality cookies: cookies which allow a returning user to be recognised.

Targeting cookies: cookies which record visits to a website, the pages visited and the links followed.  They are used to tailor content.

At the moment we use cookies which are necessary for the performance of our site and its functionality, and those used for performance and analytics. We do not use targeting cookies.  More specifically, we use the cookies listed below.

__utma Cookie

A persistent cookie - remains on a computer, unless it expires or the cookie cache is cleared. It tracks visitors. Metrics associated with the Google __utma cookie include: first visit (unique visit), last visit (returning visit). This also includes Days and Visits to purchase calculations which afford ecommerce websites with data intelligence around purchasing sales funnels.

__utmb Cookie & __utmc Cookie

These cookies work in tandem to calculate visit length. Google __utmb cookie demarks the exact arrival time, then Google __utmc registers the precise exit time of the user.

Because __utmb counts entrance visits, it is a session cookie, and expires at the end of the session, e.g. when the user leaves the page. A timestamp of 30 minutes must pass before Google cookie __utmc expires. Given__utmc cannot tell if a browser or website session ends. Therefore, if no new page view is recorded in 30 minutes the cookie is expired.

This is a standard 'grace period' in web analytics. Ominture and WebTrends among many others follow the same procedure.

  __utmz Cookie

Cookie __utmz monitors the HTTP Referrer and notes where a visitor arrived from, with the referrer siloed into type (Search engine (organic or cpc), direct, social and unaccounted). From the HTTP Referrer the   __utmz Cookie also registers, what keyword generated the visit plus geolocation data.

This cookie lasts six months. In tracking terms this Cookie is perhaps the most important as it will tell you about your traffic and help with conversion information such as what source / medium / keyword to attribute for a Goal Conversion.

__utmv Cookie

Google __utmv Cookie lasts "forever". It is a persistant cookie. It is used for segmentation, data experimentation and the __utmv works hand in hand with the   __utmz cookie to improve cookie targeting capabilities.

Third parties for example, social media providers may use cookies and set them through our sites.  Those third parties may then collect data and use it to send adverts or other content they think may be of interest to you.  We do not have any control over that activity.
